One of the things that all applicants and recipients of TEAM scholarship have in common, is their deep faith in God’s ability to provide. The definition of faith according to the bible is” the substance of thing we hope for, the evidence of things not seen”. What Cinthia Guzman, a 2022 applicant for a TEAM scholarship, describes in her essay is just one example of the faith described in the scriptures
In her essay, she wrote that even though she felt that her calling was a direct word from the Lord speaking to her heart, she needed a sign of confirmation from God.
“I asked for several signs from the Lord, to reaffirm that this was His calling. The day before I was to travel to the University, I prayed and told the Lord that I couldn’t go without adequate clothes to attend classes. I told him that I was ashamed that I had such few clothes, and these not in very good condition.
I remember clearly that evening at 7:00 pm, I heard a knock at the door. It was a grandmother that attended church with her grandson. She brought a black garbage bag, and told me the Lord had sent this for me. Inside were dresses, skirts, shirts, shoes, even purses, completely new, and all for me. My God is very great. When the road becomes difficult, I remember each of the miracles that God has made in my life.”
For most of us, this may not be a miraculous sign like Gideon’s proof of God’s calling as we read in Judges 6:33-40, but for Cinthia and for many women desiring to serve in God’s ministry it was a direct confirmation of God’s calling and affirmation of His provision for her life.
What a mighty God we serve!
