Biography of Ruth Violeta Peeters
Updated: Sep 14

Ruth Violeta Peeters was born in Peru to missionary parents who shaped her lifelong
commitment to service. Her father was a pastor, and her mother a certified nurse-midwife, both of whom modeled Chirstian compassion and dedication to others.
She received her higher education at Loma Linda University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Spanish. She later completed a Master of Social Work degree at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with a specialization in Community Organization. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a heart for healing and compassionate care, Ruth served for decades in nephrology, dialysis and transplant services at Loma Linda University Medical Center and later at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System in California.
In retirement, she continues to serve as a volunteer educator with the Alzheimer’s Association, providing support and education, particularly for Spanish speaking families.
Ruth serves on the Board of the Association of Adventist Women, where she advocates for the dignity, leadership, and education of women. Since March 2023, she has facilitated Women in Mission, Theology, and Leadership in Latin America, a monthly Zoom gathering that provides a Christ-centered space for dialogue, prayer learning, and mutual support among women engaged in theological and ministerial service throughout the InterAmerican and South American divisions, as well as Spanish-speaking women pastors in the North American Division. These conversations strengthen faith, foster unity, and equip participants to advance the gospel mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She also serves on the TEAM Scholarship Committee, helping review scholarship applications from theology students attending Seventh-day Adventist universities throughout the Inter-American and South American Divisions. Ruth feels deeply called to uplift and encourage women so they may flourish and serve fully in every field to which God calls them. Her guiding verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
